High Temperature Alignment Layers

Alignment layers for liquid crystal displays are typically made from polymeric materials. In some cases the temperature requirements of the alignment layers exceed that provided by conventional polymeric materials and ceramic (silica) layers are employed. These layers require precise control of the coating morphology to enable alignment. DVD has been investigated as a high rate deposition approach for such layers.
